Theme From M*A*S*H |
Johnny Mandel & Mike
Altman |
Lostthelot |
Note: It
sometimes happens in RR that someone recommends a
specific version of a song and then someone later
comes along and suggests a different version of the
song and the second version is picked for the A
List. In such cases, the credit for "Recommended by"
goes to the person who recommended both song and
title. This happened again this week with the Theme
From M*A*S*H. A version by jazz pianist Bill
Evans was suggested by Nilpferd. Almost a day later,
Lostthelot suggested the song again noting it was
written by Johnny Mandel and Mike Altman. The column
mentions that Altman wrote the lyrics when he was
only 14 and the list attributes the song to Mandel
and Altman. Sometimes composers have been credited
rather than the artist. In the movie, Johnny Mandel sings the
song. So I have credited Lostthelot for the
recommendation.
