  • Our Song (my partner's and mine special song): a tricky one, she is a bit of a rocker and a metal head, but we both like Edith Piaf, so it is probably “Je ne regrette rien”, because we don’t (regret things, I mean).
  • Musical guilty pleasure: AOR power ballads, stuff like Boston’s “More than a feeling” and Diane Warren songs (she is the queen of the power ballad)

  • Occupations*: In the day job, scrabbling round dark satanic mills, keeping everyone safe. In the other job, hobnobbing with the sporting elite, keeping everyone clean!  Love 'em both equally. *  Yes, plural. Doesn't everyone without a Tory Party connection need two jobs these days?

  • Musical likes: Heavy/Classic rock, Americana and neo-classical minimalism mostly, but everything from punk to reggae to even Bob Dylan gets a look-in.   
  • Musical dis-likes: As a generalization, traditional Classical, hip-hop, rap, what passes for RnB these days, and most forms of jazz. But even there, there are Diamonds And Pearls amongst the swine.
  • Proudest RR moment: (i) The first Drive-By Truckers A-listing (Maddy, subbing for Dorian, picked My Sweet Annette for 'Infidelity' Songs. (ii) frogprincess using a suggestion of mine as the soundtrack to her holiday-memory DVD.
  • Lowest RR moment: Jon Dennis' tenure, and being unable to stop myself from rocking the boat about it. Should've walked away earlier. Sorry folks!
  • RR goals: Getting a Bon Scott era AC/DC song A-listed. Getting ANYTHING by Dakota Suite into The Marconium.

  • Joined RR Community: I forget exactly when I joined, but my mate RockingMitch persuaded me to have a go.Glad I did. It's great fun. Recently got my first A lister and 2 B's in the same week, for songs about Uncertainty.
  • Favourite Artists: My all time favourite is Jackie Wilson, but also Little Willie John; Percy Mayfield; Clyde McPhatter; Elvis Presley; Dinah Washington; Sarah Vaughan; Louis Jordan; Marvin Gaye; Sam Cooke. Generally into good, 50's R&B, Rock & Roll, early Soul and early to mid 60's Pop. Also good Reggae by the likes of Matumbi, The Mighty Diamonds and Bob Marley. I'm a big fan of swing Jazz by the likes of Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman or even earlier stuff like Fletcher  Henderson. I'm a keen guitarist myself, so I enjoy the likes of Django Reinhardt and Barney Kessell. Early and Capitol era Frank Sinatra is also a big favourite, as well as Mel Torme; Sammy Davis Jr; Barbra Streisand; Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole Trio.   • Favorite Artists: I always thought I’d grow out of my dependence on skinny young people playing electric guitars semi-competently, but it hasn’t happened yet… Byrds, Beatles, Velvets, Who, Move, Jam, Clash, Wire, XTC, Beat, Smiths, Hornets Attack Victor Mature… iconoclasts: Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Cale, Eno, Wyatt, Cope, Rundgren, Kate Bush, Richard Thompson, Bevis Frond, White Stripes, Banhart, anybody who can sing in Welsh… folkies: M.Carthy, E.Carthy, S.Collins, many more. 60s psychedelia, 70s reggae, classic soul, Paisley Underground, power pop, Americana, African music.   • Artist that I always try to nominate: All About Eve.
  • First A-Lister: Paul Weller's 'Wildwood' in Trees, Grass and Flowers. Somewhat underwhelming as I'd been trying /really/ hard to get AAE in that week (as you can tell from the moniker I was using...).
  • The One That Got Away: The Sea! I'm pretty sure that I suggested the topic (at least in part as a way of getting AAE's big hit in a list...) and then I wasn't around when it came up. Fortunately, Babryn stepped in with 'Martha's Harbour'.
  • AKA: In the early days (before permanent login names), I blogged simply as 'Amanda' or, at least once, as 'Amanda the All About Eve fan'.
