George Boyland

George Boyland came up with his nickname, sonofwebcore,  when his original nickname, webcore, got lost in the ether. He was a member of the community for a very long time and was our resident Captain Beefheart fan. Webby, as he was popularly called, was quick to volunteer for the guru’s chair in 2012 and is one of the few volunteer gurus to have done back-to-back RR columns. He is our most prolific volunteer guru with over 47 times at bat. He also holds the record for the most times as a volunteer guru in a single year with nine stints in 2017.

George, sadly, passed away suddenly on May 15, 2024. He is deeply missed by the rest of the Song Bar community. Our esteemed Landlord, Peter Kimpton, put together a terrific tribute to George with lots of reminiscences and stories about the man. You can find it here: A Tribute to George Boyland. One can imagine him happily busking and telling stories on some street corner in the great beyond.
